It’s easy to underestimate kids on the spectrum! They’re uniquely wonderful, with amazing abilities and strengths.
But they often need help with specific challenges like controlling their emotions, social interaction, and attention span.
Our instructors give each child the one-on-one attention they deserve. We don’t just track progress—we celebrate it! No child slips through the cracks, and every child has a chance to shine.
We actually broke our Spectrum program into two class structures, High Needs and Low Needs. In each class, we focus on the needs of the student and keep class size conducive to their needs. This means class ratios may be as low as no more than 2 students to 1 Instructor for High needs and typically no more than 4 to 1 for Low needs.
Most of our Memberships also offer limited private lessons or they can be purchased as stand alones.
When you bring your child to us, one of the first things we ask is about sensory challenges so that we can discuss what we can do and what may need to be done.
Spectrum students are not required to wear uniform tops as we know that the weight can affect some as an example. We work with the parent and child to adapt them to uniform pants and belts.
As with all our programs, there was a lot of research and training put into learning the top needs of children on the Spectrum, and we then developed 8 Specific SKILLZ to target their challenges. Skillz such as COMMUNICATION, DETERMINATION, DETAILING, LISTENING, and RETENTION.
YES! With all our programs, each group have their own class programs and structures so that we can focus on their specific needs. It’s like putting a 3 year old with a 30 year old, typically not a good idea.
However, after each testing we provide a Graduation Celebration where students are brought together across all programs to show off what they have learned. Based on the students comfort, Spectrum students have the options to participate in part or in whole with all others supporting and cheering them on!
As with all groups we work with, we try to stay informed and involved in any way we can.
Whether it is the weekly communication with fellow SKILLZ Schools across the world that offer this program, sharing experiences, social media pages related to Autism or local organizations or groups that pertain to Autism. We have visisted and asked questions and offfered to involve ourselves whenever possible.
Our parents of our existing students are also an invaluable resource. Most of these questions came from them! Learning never stops.
There are 3 days available for Spectrum Skillz. Each of those days, the classes are broken into 2 sessions; High Needs, those who need more attention and Low Needs, those who do not require as much intense focus.
The 3rd Day is subject to Holidays and Testing Dates
We suggest they try to attend at least 2 days per week, but the schedule can be found at this link;
